Introduction:
Every day, once a day, I’ll go outside and write a poem in my journal. Just off the cuff, not thinking too hard, whatever comes to me in that moment, I write it down as a poem. As one would expect, many of them are pretty “meh,” but some of them come out quite good, I think. The important thing is that something gets written. After all, the best way to get better at writing is to just keep writing, and this is a great way to keep that creative chain unbroken. I’ve started up this blog to share my poetry journal for multiple reasons. First and foremost, I want to encourage people to be unafraid to express themselves creatively; nobody creates gold all the time, but it’s important to keep creating. Secondly, these are some weird times we’re living in, and rather than writing directly about them, I think it’d be interesting to have these poems out there, and see how our creative minds are influenced and changed by the daily zeitgeist. Lastly, I just think this is a neat blog idea. I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a while now, and I think there’s something compelling about sharing a brand new poem everyday, and sort of documenting my own creative mood day by day. Hopefully I’m right, and hopefully you find something here that you like, and maybe get inspired to write something of your own. For now, write on!
